前言
本专著以科学发展观为指导，秉承“贵在创新、重在实践”的原则（Creativity is a key to value in academic research whereas the focus is on a combination of theory and practice），企盼在英汉互译学术研究理论和实践上有所发展、有所突破。本书有几大亮点（highlights），其中最具“挑战思维，绽放异彩”的是：概念表达必须在语流中结构化（convert concepts into structures in the stream of speech）。
作者在句法结构研究上注重语义、语用和社会文化在思维模式（models of thought）上的整合，即把概念表达融合成一个有机的统一体（integrate concepts into a united and organic entity）。
The organization of conceptual structures is hardwired into the human brain（概念结构的组织能力是人脑与生俱来所固有的）。这一论断相当于乔姆斯基的语言能力（linguistic competence），本书作者提出了创新理论“概念能力”，这一个理念已在《英汉概念结构对比》一书中得到了充分的陈述。现以一些经典实例加以说明。
